What is Lamaze and why is your program free? Historically Lamaze Classes have been designed to strengthen the bond for couples who are about to be first time parents . The transition into parenthood can be difficult for many couples. Couples who attended Lamaze together reported higher satisfaction in their relationship after their child was born . However, you do not have to have a partner to participate in our Lamaze series. You can attend our Lamaze class on your own or with a friend, parent or doula.
Lamaze classes are offered only by certified child birth instructors. Lamaze instruction focuses on the idea that birth is normal, natural and healing . The primary focus of a Lamaze class is to have a healthy mama and baby. MAYA’s Lamaze class helps you evaluate these resources to make safe and healthy choices that are best for you and your baby. You’ve likely received a lot of information from many resources, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. MAYA’s Lamaze Certified Instructors are also experienced doulas and have a wealth of knowledge about childbirth and appropriate prenatal and post partum resources for you in Pittsburgh.
Pregnancy and birth are demanding on a woman’s body. Lamaze can give you the assurance that your body is able to handle the changes of pregnancy and childbirth. Preparing yourself and understanding the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy and childbirth can help you eliminate your fears and feel more confident moving forward in labor and delivery. MAYA Organization offers free Lamaze classes in Pittsburgh, because we understand the financial expenses can cause emotional stress for new parents.
MAYA Organization’s certified Lamaze instructors offer a Lamaze Basics course and an Advanced Lamaze course. Each course is a three evening class session.
MAYA also offers a one-time Lamaze Refresher for women who have already given birth. See our January 2017 Calendar for more details!
